NORFOLK COUNCIL ACTION

These are the actions from the Norfolk City Council meeting Tuesday. All members were present. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were unanimous.

PUBLIC HEARING

On the application of H.B. Hunter & Others to close a portion of Cromwell Road. Approved, 7-0.

CONSENT AGENDA

City Manager recommending a hearing be held for comments on an application for ISTEA funds to establish the Elizabeth River Trail a bicycle/pedestrian path.

Recommended action: authorize City Clerk to advertise for a public hearing on Jan. 24.

Real Estate Assessor requesting confirmation of his appointment of Betty C. Hampton as Real Estate Appraiser I, effective July 1, 1994, and D. Lee Davenport and Arthur M. Eason, III, as Real Estate Appraisal Team Leaders, effective Dec. 27, 1994.

Recommended action: confirm appointments.

REGULAR AGENDA

City Manager presenting recommendation of the City Planning Commission on the application of Allied Systems, Ltd., by John Deal, attorney, for the closure of a portion of Princeton Avenue. (Passed by at the meetings of Dec. 27, 1994, and Jan. 3, 1995)

An ordinance to amend and reordain sections 25-652 and 25-648 of the Norfolk City Code to add two new subsections making Georgia Avenue a one-way street in the 500 block and prohibiting a right-turn at Georgia Avenue and 38th Street.

An ordinance to amend and reordain Division 2 of Article VII of Chapter 2 of the Norfolk City Code, 1979, relating to the Norfolk Environmental Commission.

An ordinance repealing section 25-646(35) of the Norfolk City Code, 1979, concerning the speed limit on a portion of Newport Ave.

An ordinance authorizing the City Treasurer to docket a lien against certain lands or premises for the expenses to abate nuisances.

An ordinance terminating a permit with the United States Government to occupy and use a portion of Liberty Street.

A resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish a project for improvement on Ruthven Road at International Terminal Boulevard.

A resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish a project for improvement on Diven Street at International Terminal Boulevard.

A resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish a project for improvement of Goff Street.

An ordinance granting permission to Bernard S. Rhees and Frances B. Rhees to encroach into the right of way of Waterfront Drive, subject to certain conditions.

An ordinance approving the terms and conditions of a lease agreement with Tidewater Athletic Club for use of the athletic facility at Industrial Park.
