Due to holiday collection shortages, the American Red Cross has issued a plea to all eligible blood donors. Area hospitals are operating at 50 percent of their type O blood inventories.
The community is urged to respond to blood drives throughout January. Donors must be at least 17, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds to be eligible. There is no longer an upper-age limit for donors. Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE for drive times and locations. by CNB
