Simon P. Arrington, 78, of the 2900 block of Magnolia St., died Jan. 11, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center.
Mr. Arrington was born in Halifax, N.C., and was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 33 years. He was a member of Noble Street Baptist Church, where he was also a Deacon, Adult Class Sunday School teacher and teacher of the Bible Training Class. He was president of the Wilson Ward Civic League; second vice president of the Central Civic Forum; Mayor's Senior Citizen Commission; NAACP; and Democratic Committee.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Wallace Arrington; two daughters, Gladys L. Arrington of Chesapeake and Barbara A. Steward of Hawthorne, Calif.; six sons, Simon A. Arrington of Fort Washington, Md., Preston E. Arrington of Chesapeake, Wilbert D. Arrington of Portsmouth, Ronald J. Arrington of Arlington, Va., Larry Arrington and DeWayne K. Arrington, both of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Noble Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronnie T. Northam Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will be at the residence. The body will be in church at 10 a.m. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
