CONNIE W. EVANS

Connie Wynns Evans, 91, of the 400 block of S. Pembroke Ave., a homemaker, died Jan. 12, 1995, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Mrs. Evans was born in Hertford County, N.C., and was the widow of Edward Robert Evans Sr. She was a member of Ahoskie First Baptist Church, the Nan Beasley Sunday School Class , Ahoskie Woman's Club and the Ahoskie Garden Club.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Robert Evans Jr. and Sandra H. Evans of Murfreesboro and Ernest L. Evans and Austine O. Evans of Ahoskie; a sister, Irma Leigh Callis of Ahoskie; grandchildren, Deda E. Williford of Ahoskie, Stacy D. Evans of Charlotte, Tina M. Evans, E. Brad Evans, both of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren, Cameron W. Williford, Chip Williford, both of Ahoskie; and two special nieces, Margaret D. Pomeroy of Newport Beach, Calif., and Edith Merritt of Harrellsville.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ahoskie First Baptist Church by Dr. Jesse J. Croom. Burial will be in Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Evans Scholarship Fund, c/o Chowan College, P.O.
