Robert H. DeFord, 95, of the 1100 block of Pond Cypress Drive, a retired dairy farmer, died Jan. 11, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. DeFord was born in Camden County, N.C., and was the widower of Joella T. DeFord. He was a member of Fairmont Park United Methodist Church, Atlantic Masonic Lodge (NU)2, U.S. Army veteran of World War I; past president of Dairymen's Inc.; and director of the American Dairy Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia D. Maddrey and a son, Robert H. DeFord Jr., both of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, John Maddrey of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Barbara Callan of Chesapeake, Shelley Pagonis of Knoxville, Tenn., Lisa Ramsey of Virginia Beach, Tom D. Maddrey of Crozet, Va., and Robert H. DeFord III of Virginia Beach; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Donald A. Baird and the Rev. Tom D. Maddrey. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m today. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Virginia Wesleyan College or to Hope Haven.
