William R. Funches, 48, of the 500 block of Chestnut St., died Jan. 11, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
He was a native of Southampton County, son of the late Author Funches and Lois B. Funches. He was employed at Newport News Shipyard and was a member of First Baptist Church, Burdette.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy R. Funches; three sons, William R. Funches Jr., Timothy Reid and Frederick Reid, all of Franklin; two brothers, Eskew Brown of Ivor and Arthur Funches of Gates, N.C.; five sisters, Annie Mae Scott of Sunbeam, Va., Mozelle F. Bowers, Imell F. Urquhart, Eunice Funches, and Bernice Funches of Franklin; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home by the Rev. Clarence Myrick. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
