ROXIE W. BURNETTE

Roxie Warren Burnette, 102, died Jan. 13, 1995, in Newport News.

Mrs. Burnette was born in Hobgood, N.C., and was a Suffolk resident for 25 years before moving to Newport News four years ago. She was retired as an adult caregiver after many years and was a lunchroom manager at Hobgood School. She was the widow of Herbert Lee Burnette and a member of First Baptist Church, North Main Street in Suffolk, the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Senior Adult Choir.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James H. and Lorraine G. Burnette of Newport News; two granddaughters, Brenda B. Tagge of Grafton, Va., and Anne B. Hamilton of Newport News; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church Suffolk by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson. Burial will be in Hobgood Cemetery, Hobgood, N.C., at 2:30 p.m. Friends may join the family in Hill Funeral Home from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday and other times in the home of James H. Burnette, 24 Emrick Ave., Newport News. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
