MORGAN C. MARTIN

Morgan Carle Martin, 77, of the 2400 block of Grandy Ave., died Jan. 12, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Morgan was born in Alburg, Vermont and was a planner/estimator for Norfolk Naval Air Station. He was a member of Union Congregational Church in Alburg. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Toast Masters International Club (NU)686 and 4787 ATM where he received a blue ribbon leadership award. He held the office of District Governor for District (NU)66 from 1970 to 1971 and was president of Ballentine Place Civic Association for 24 years.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Ansell Martin; three sons, Wayne Elliot Martin of Palo Alto, Calif., Glenn Carle Martin of Fontana Dam, N.C., and Gary Robert Martin of Sunnyvale, Calif.; one sister, Margaret Pike of Bradenton, Fla.; and two brothers, Winfield Martin of Alburg, Vt. and Norman Martin of Gig Harbor, Wash.

The funeral will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 16, 1995 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. George C. Ansell and the Rev. W. Kent Ansell in Knotts Island Methodist Church, Knotts Island, N.C. Burial will follow in Knotts Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 15, 1995 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Teen Challenge at the Outerbanks Worship Center, U.S. Highway 158 Bypass, Nags Head, N.C. 27959.
