A Lake Taylor High School student allegedly took a gun to school Friday, then asked a girl to keep it for him, police said.
Investigators said Antonio Williams, 18, a sophomore at Lake Taylor, approached a 15-year-old girl about 10 a.m. and grabbed her knapsack. Williams allegedly put an object into the knapsack, telling the girl to keep the item until he returned.

Williams, of the 1500 block of Berkley Avenue Extended, ran from the school, police said. They said he was to be charged with possession of a firearm on school property. The girl was not identified because of her age.
It was the first time this school year that a gun has been found in Norfolk schools, Deputy Superintendent J. Frank Sellew said.
Officials in the past two years have mounted a campaign to keep guns out of the city's schools, beefing up security and making sure students know the consequences - automatic expulsion. Sellew praised the girl for going to authorities with the gun.
``That was good thinking on her part,'' Sellew said.
