Casino operator plans job fair today: Hollywood Casino Corp. will hold a job fair today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hampton University's Convocation Center. Hollywood Casino says it will need between 2,000 and 2,500 employees to operate its proposed $194 million riverboat gambling development in Hampton.

The jobs, which won't be available unless gambling legislation is legalized and Hollywood's project is approved by the state, include dealers, telemarketers, office workers, managers, and food-service and hotel workers. (Staff)

Trigon refunds $18.1 million: Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Virginia's largest health insurer, has refunded $18.1 million to policyholders as part of an agreement with state officials over allegations that the company overcharged customers. Virginia Insurance Commissioner Steven Foster said that about 163,000 policyholders filed refund claims before a deadline last Saturday. The insurer has paid about 107,000 of those claims, Foster said. About 27,000 claims were rejected as ineligible and about 29,000 remain to be processed. Trigon made the refunds and paid a $5 million fine for failing to share with policyholders discounts Trigon received from other health care providers. (Associated Press)

Peninsula airport traffic up for 1994: Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport reported an 8 percent increase in passenger traffic in 1994. The airport handled 336,674 passengers last year, up from 311,743 in 1993. (Staff)

Bids climb for wireless licenses: Bidders for licenses to provide new types of wireless communications services pushed prices for the licenses up a combined $1 billion this week, the Federal Communications Commission said. The FCC is selling 99 licenses nationwide to provide so-called Personal Communications Services. High bidders, as of Friday, for two licenses in the Richmond-Norfolk territory are PCS Primeco L.P., a consortium of phone companies including Bell Atlantic Corp., which bid $27.3 million; and Continental Cablevision Inc., which bid $25.3 million. Ford to recall 133,476 Windstar minivans after electrical fires: Ford Motor Co. said it is recalling the 1995-model Windstar minivans because of two separate electrical defects that have caused 13 fires so far, though no injuries. The company is notifying owners by mail to return their vehicles to dealers for free inspections and service. Ford declined to say how much the recall of the Windstar Minivans will cost.
