`FANS' SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

Thank you so much for your accurate coverage of the Virginia Beach Bar Association's new program CLASS, for Concerned Lawyers Advocating Spousal Safety.

We have already received calls from several lawyers who want to participate in the program.

We also have opportunities for others to work with victims of domestic violence. FANS, Family Advocacy Network Services, is a group of volunteers who have assisted victims before our court for 10 years. FANS volunteers contact victims, provide resource information, offer a support group for victims and their children, and help prepare victims for court. FANS volunteers screen victims and introduce them to CLASS volunteers.

Orientation for new FANS volunteers will be held Jan. 20. Interested persons may call me at 427-8019 for more information.
