JAMES EVANS JR.

James Evans Jr., 62, of the 7400 block of Pomona St., died Jan. 12, 1995, in Hampton, Va.

Mr. Evans was born in Georgetown, S.C. He was a retired truck driver after 40 years and had been retired for six months. He was a member of Macedonia Holiness Church, the deacon board and senior choir. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 4, and was honored the Korean Service Medal with bronze campaign star, United Nations Service Medal with overseas bars and the National Defense Service Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris Evans; a daughter, Brenda Evans Joyner; two sons, Earl Scott and Willie James Johnson; four sisters, Alberta Campbell, Anna Mae Evans, Gloria Jean Evans and Dee Kinlock; two brothers, Henry Evans and Sam Evans; grandchildren, Andrew Joyner Jr., John Quent, Lisa Quent, Brian Joyner, Earl Scott Jr. and Shawn Scott; and a host of friends and relatives.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday at Macedonia Holiness Church, Norfolk, by Bishop S. Copeland. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
