JAMES A. POPE

James Albert Pope, 72, of the 500 block of Marcus St., died Jan. 12, 1995.

Mr. Pope was a member of First Baptist Church South Hill, Progressive Lodge (NU)7, Norfolk, and was retired.

Survivors include his wife, Artelia L. Pope; three daughters, Audrey E. Porter and Jo Ann P. Dean, both of Norfolk, and Joyce L. Pope of Chesapeake; two sons, James A. Pope Jr. of Hampton and William Langley of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Edith Jones of Kenbridge, Va.; a brother, Gerold Harkless of Severn, Md.; one brother-in-law, George P. Jones of Kenbridge, Va.; one sister-in-law, Cynthya Harkless of Severn, Md.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Annette S. Pope of Hampton; son-in-law Samuel D. Porter of Norfolk; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church South Hill. Pretlow & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
