Riverboat gaming will be coming to the East Coast. Virginia has two choices:
(1) Be a leader and benefit from all riverboat gaming has to offer.
(2) Be a follower and lose an opportunity to reap the maximum economic growth.
The bottom-line benefits of riverboat gaming in Virginia:
24,000 new jobs;
$123 million in tax revenue;
$200 million in capital investment;
significant increases in tourism.
Many Virginia voters believe we can benefit our schools and help our region's growing educational needs with the revenue generated by riverboat gaming.
Please print the facts. Check with Illinois law-enforcement officials. Seven cities with riverboat gaming report crime is down or no increase in crime.
Virginia voters should be allowed to decide if we will have riverboat gaming. Those who wish not to gamble need not do so. But why should others have to drive or fly to other states to spend their money?
