WILLIE D. WILEY

Willie Mae Davidson Wiley, 81, of the 200 block of Tatemstown Road, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 1995, in Norfolk Community Hospital.

Mrs. Wiley, a native of Charlotte, N.C., was the fourth of 12 children born to the late Thomas H. and Lula Moore Davidson. She retired from the Dietary Department of the Norfolk Public Schools at Norview Elementary School. She was the widow of Henry Colbert Wiley Sr. and a faithful member of St. John AME Church. Mrs. Wiley was active in many phases of her church and got perhaps her greatest joy volunteering in the kitchen of the church with others on special occasions and also preparing meals for families after funerals at St. John's. Her mark of distinction was that loving and friendly Davidson smile which has always been a characteristic of the Davidson family.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. B. Thomas Garnette of Norfolk and Henry C. Wiley Jr. of Chesapeake; a brother, Oren S. Davidson of Norfolk; grandchildren, Donna Y. Garnette, Michael C. Wiley, Vincent Wiley, Christine Ferguson, Christopher Shazell and J. LaVern Johnson; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in St. John AME Church, 545 E. Bute St., by the Rev. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in church at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at other times at 821 Johnston Road, the home of Ellen Davidson. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
