Frederick H. ``Big Red'' Byers, 71, of the 1000 block of Clay St., a retired truck driver, died Jan. 14, 1995, in Beverly Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Byers was born in Covington, Va., and was retired from E.V. Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie M. Byers; a daughter, Janice T. Lewis of Portsmouth; a stepdaughter, Mamie Bernice Brown of Portsmouth; four stepsons, Ronald and Alfred Day of Christiansburg, Va., James Todd of Alexandria, Va., and Elgie Todd of Chesapeake; three sisters, Mary Byers Sheats of California, Anna Byers Jones of Michigan and Rachael Byers of Franklin, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Forrest Perdue of Portsmouth and Alfred Perdue of Eustis, Fla.; special friends, Henry Harris and Curtis Ford, both of Portsmouth; a son-in-law, Alan Lewis of Portsmouth; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fisher Funeral Home by the Rev. D.A. Peace. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake.
