Ole Mauritz Thorsen, 77, of Shoal Creek Trail, died Monday, Jan. 16, 1995, at his residence.
He was born in Sandefjord, Norway, on Aug. 21, 1917, and was a retired builder and carpenter. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as an officer in the Norwegian Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Norwegian Seamen War Veteran's Club of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sons of Norway, Hampton Roads, the Great Bridge Seniors, and Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Thorsen; four sons, Carl O. Thorsen of Layfayette, Ca., Eric Ole Thorsen of New City, N.Y., Martin William Thorsen of Chesapeake, and Rolf M. Thorsen of Suffern, N.Y.; one sister, Kari Hemmingsen of Drammen, Norway; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins both in the United States and Norway.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, at 2 p.m. today by the Rev. Bill Boldin. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will be sent to Michael Higgins Funeral Home, New City, N.Y. for a funeral service to be held on Friday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
