Frederick H. ``Big Red'' Byers, 71, of the 1000 block of Clay St., a retired truck driver, died Jan. 14, 1995, in Beverly Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Byers was born in Covington, , and was retired from E.V. Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie M. Byers; a daughter, Janice T. Lewis of Portsmouth; a stepdaughter, Mamie Bernice Brown of Portsmouth; four stepsons, Ronald and Alfred Day of Christiansburg, , James Todd of Alexandria, , and Elgie Todd of Chesapeake; three sisters, Mary Byers Sheats of California, Anna Byers Jones of Michigan and Rachael Byers Franklin of Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Forrest Perdue of Portsmouth and Alfred Perdue of Eustis, Fla.; special friends, Henry Harris and Curtis Ford, both of Portsmouth; a son-in-law, Alan Lewis of Portsmouth; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Fisher Funeral Home by the Rev. D.A. Peace. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake.
