WEEKEND

EVER SEEN A Stalingrad Kangaroo Cat? These short-legged felines were discovered in Germany years ago, and were considered an oddity. Now they are becoming a respected exotic breed. We call them Munchkins here in the good ol' U.S. OF A. and you can find a few on exhibit at this weekend's Pawprints in the Sand Cat Club Cat Show. There'll also be 315 other purebred cats on hand from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Holiday Inn, 725 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake. Admission: $3.50; $2 children and seniors. 425-7595.

TUESDAY

CAN'T ACCUSE Oliver Stone of being subtle, but in ``Natural Born Killers,'' due on video Tuesday, the director goes over the top. His statement about violence, and how the media and the masses nurture it, is a mind-blowing array of imagery and technique - and an incredible feat by the folks in the editing room. Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis star. Not for the squeamish, it's based on a story by Quentin Tarantino.

WEDNESDAY

WHEN NOT pursuing the melange of mythology, performance art and metal that is GWAR's stock in trade, bassist Michael ``Beefcake'' Bishop does the Kepone thing. The Richmond band, which is promoting its album ``Ugly Dance,'' opens for alternative hard-rockers Helmet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Nsect Club, 1916 Armistead Ave., Hampton. Tickets: $11 advance, $12 day of show. 838-5463.

MONDAY

MONDAY'S FELDMAN Chamber Music Society concert includes three classics of the quartet literature. The Australian String Quartet will play Ravel's gorgeous String Quartet and Mozart's A Major Quartet (K. 464) at the Chrysler Museum Theater.

The opening work is the Third Quartet of Hungarian composer Bela Bartok. The Adelaide-based ensemble, now in its 10th season, is preparing all six Bartok quartets to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the great composer's death.

The performance is at 8 p.m., with a preview by Dwight Davis of WHRO-FM at 6:30. Tickets are $14, $5 for students and professional musicians. Call 498-9396 for more information.
