Joseph Merrimond Williams, 88, a retired planner and estimator, died Jan. 19, 1995, in Sentara Nursing Center, Norfolk.
Mr. Williams was born in Roper, N.C. He was retired from the U.S. government at St. Julians Creek Annex after 25 years. He was a member of Carrow Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Esther S. Williams; a daughter, Amelia W. Smith of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mrs. J.R. Mauldin of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Stacey D. Smith of Virginia Beach.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Kenneth Carlten. The family will be at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carrow Baptist Church, 5545 Susquehanna Drive, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
