James Calvin Morgan, Ph.D., 61, of the 4400 block of Old Mill Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
A native of Branchville, he was the son of the late Edward Glen Morgan and Ruth L'May Darden and husband of Ada Hannar Morgan. He was self-employed for five years and was retired from Freehold Regional High School District after three years. He was a member and associate pastor of East End Baptist Church and a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Religious Education Association. He was an alumni of New York University and was a disabled veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Kim LeMonte, James Calvin II, Kai Nigel and Kevin and George Edwards; three daughters, Bertornia Ruth Anderson, Claire Louise Hunter and Paula Renee Morgan; an uncle, John Shearin; a grand-niece, Tara Hawks; a grand-nephew, Richard Hawks; stepfather, Fred Darden; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in East End Baptist Church, Suffolk, by Mark A. Croston, D.Min. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, Franklin. A memorial service will be held on Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home, Franklin.
