So Newt Gingrich and our newly elected senators and representatives are now the bad guys, as painted by much of the media. Our newly elected officials are in favor of such legislation as welfare reform, slashing food-stamp programs and cutting many entitlements to help balance the budget. Their proposed reforms have many people worried who depend on these entitlements.
But who was it who declared on a debate of senatorial candidates on prime-time television (paraphrased), ``I would take food out of the mouths of widows and orphans to balance the federal budget''? Lest we forget, it was Chuck Robb, our re-elected senator.
