CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS

The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Wednesday: Consideration of applications for funding under the ISTEA Transportation Program. The applications, if approved, would use federal funds to refurbish the Main Street train station, which was damaged by fire last year. Money would also go toward promoting Suffolk Civil War sites, namely Riddick's Folly. Approved 7-0

Consideration of conditional-use permit request C29-94 for a materials-resource facility on property at the intersection of Townpoint Road and Interstate 664. The facility would be owned and operated by Holly's Disposal Inc. Approved 7-0

Consideration of request RR20-94 to rezone a parcel of about 1.52 acre from B-2, General Business, to M-1, Light Manufacturing, for relocating an existing building for use as an office/warehouse on property off Old College Drive. Approved 7-0

Consideration of request RR26-94 (conditional) for rezoning from M-1, Light Manufacturing (conditional), to M-1, Light Manufacturing (conditional) for the purpose of amending the existing condition associated with Rezoning Request RR-9-81 (conditional). The proposed amendment is to allow construction of an office building for a dental practice and to eliminate the existing 1987 amendment to RR9-81 (conditional), which allowed for an additional structure to be used as a woodworking and antique shop that was never built. Approved 7-0

Consideration of conditional-use permit request C-28-94 for a custom woodworking business to occupy an existing vacant commercial building at 5936 Godwin Blvd. Approved 7-0

Requesting that the Virginia Department of Transportation include Kings Point Drive Extended, Section 3 of the Kings Point Subdivision, into the Secondary Road System. Approved 7-0

Requesting the department include Kristen Lane, Elmington Way and Toddsbury Court in the Burnetts Mill Subdivision, Sections 5A and 5B, in the Secondary Road System. Approved 7-0

Requesting the department include Locust Street Extended, Wake Forest Court, Shepherd Street and Oceola Avenue in Walnut Hill Estates Subdivision, Sections 2, 3 and 3A, in Secondary Road System. Approved 7-0

Requesting the department accept and include a portion of additional right-of-way and the abandonment of a portion of Steeple Drive, Route 1504, from the Secondary System of Highways. Approved 7-0 by CNB
