John Richard Coley Jr., 71, of the 2800 block of Willowwood Drive, a retired sergeant first class, died Jan. 21, 1995, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Mr. Coley was born in Cullman County, Ala. He retired from Litton Industries, College Park, Md., and from the U.S. Army. He was a Methodist and an Army veteran of World War II and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Overton Coley; a daughter, Sandra Lee Coley of Chesapeake; a son, David Kevin Coley of Norfolk; a sister, Vida Coley Waterfield of Virginia Beach; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Hicks of Virginia Beach, Kimberly Basso, Christina Basso and Catherine Batton, all of Spotsylvania; and two great-grandsons. He was the son of the late John Richard Coley Sr. and Addie Hill Coley of Norfolk.
A funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Bradford L. Phillips. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today and at the residence other times.
