RAINEY E. HOBBS

Rainey Edwin Hobbs of the 1400 block of Shelborne Court, a retired refrigeration and air condition technician, died Jan. 20, 1995 in his residence.

Mr. Hobbs was born in Goldsboro, N.C. He retired from Norfolk Naval Base and was a member of The Christian Temple, Norfolk Masonic Lodge (NU)1 AF&AM Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Temple of the Shrine, A.A.O.N.M.S. and a member of The Motor Patrol. Mr. Hobbs was a member of the Elks Lodge (NU)38, B.P.O.E. and Moose Lodge (NU)39.

Survivors include his wife, Esther J. Hobbs; a daughter, Virginia Turner of Chesapeake; a sister, Katherine Patterson of Norfolk; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Donald L. Kirkbride. Contributions may be made to Virginia Beach SPCA or a charity of choice. The family will be at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 3 to 4 p.m. today.
