CRIME LINE

Local police are seeking public assistance in solving these cases:

NORFOLK

At 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13, Claude Elmer Porter, 60, was found murdered in his home at 2508 Tait Court in the Ballentine section of the city.

Porter was last seen alive at his home the day before.

The victim's car, a dark blue, four-door, 1988 Mitsubishi, was missing. It was later found in the 1000 block of Denhart Ave. in the Huntersville section.

PORTSMOUTH

On Oct. 20, 1991, about 6:15 p.m., Roland D. Holland went to the Swanson Homes section to meet a man whose identity is not known.

After exchanging a few words with the man, Holland turned back toward his car. The other man pulled a handgun and shot Holland in the back.

Holland was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died.

In the three years since, no arrest has been made. Police are still looking for a suspect, described as black, 18 years old, 5 feet 3 inches tall, 130 pounds and wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and faded jeans.

VIRGINIA BEACH

On Sunday, Jan. 8, about 12:30 p.m., a 54-year-old woman was walking in the parking lot of North Lynnhaven Mall when she was attacked.

The woman was struck several times on her face and knocked to the ground. The assailant took her purse and fled.

The suspect is described as black, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a stocky build. He weighed about 200 pounds.

CHESAPEAKE

Sometime between Jan. 6, about 4 p.m., and late on Jan. 8, a burglar broke into a home in the 1500 block of Plantation Lakes Circle.

The thief took a Quantex multimedia computer with an Epson color printer. Several electronic items and handguns also were taken.

Several of the guns were Spanish-made. Among them: a .44-caliber and a revolver, and the other a .357 Magnum.

Selen Patricia Roberts, 34, is wanted for grand larceny.

Roberts is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 120 pounds.

Two men are on the Sheriff's Most Wanted list:

Percell Metz, 38, is wanted for probation violation stemming from a robbery conviction. He's believed to be commuting between Chesapeake and Florida.

Shawn Spencer, 24, is wanted for failing to appear in court.

HAMPTON

On Dec. 23, about 7:45 p.m., a man was working on his vehicle in the parking lot of the Pentran Bus Station at 2 W. Pembroke Ave. when he was robbed.

The suspect, armed with a silver automatic handgun, took money and then fled to a nearby apartment complex.

The robber is described as black, in his late teens to early 20s, 6 feet tall and 165 pounds.

He was wearing a black coat and dark baggy pants. He had acne on his face. by CNB
