Elder James D. Taylor, 58, of the 6000 block of College Drive, a truck driver, died Jan. 21, 1995.
Elder Taylor was born in Wilson, N.C. He had worked for Vico Construction. He was a member of New Community C.O.G.I.C., Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie N. Taylor of Suffolk; two daughters, Esther L. Jenkins of Portsmouth and Angela C. Taylor of Suffolk; eight sons, James D. Taylor Jr. of Sanford, N.C., Johnnie Raymond Taylor, Anthony L. Taylor, Robert Lee Taylor and Rodney Eugene Taylor, all of Raleigh, N.C. and Kent S. Taylor of Capron, Va., Tyrone Taylor of Richmond and James L. Blount of Suffolk; his mother, Annie Taylor of Portsmouth; two sisters, Carrie Clemons and Robin Stevens, both of Portsmouth; 35 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Andrew F. Clemons of Portsmouth; and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in New Community C.O.G.I.C., Portsmouth, by Bishop Ted Thomas. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Serenity Funeral Home, Portsmouth, and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 6109 A. College Drive in Suffolk at 12:15 p.m. for the processional to the church.
