ABORTION FOES RALLY IN WASHINGTON

From churches and towns across the nation, they came with a message. To the Supreme Court, they carried their placards and chants: ``Abortion is murder!'' ``It's a child, not a choice!''

After a weekend of impassioned, angry exchanges with pro-choice advocates marking the 22nd anniversary of the court's Roe vs. Wade abortion decision, Monday belonged to the anti-abortion forces. About 45,000 150 from South Hampton Roads -gathered for their annual March for Life.

a rally before the March for Life in Washington on Monday. The

annual event came as abortion foes celebrated their growing clout

with a Congress now led by the Republican Party.

A group from Kempsville Presbyterian Church left Virginia Beach

before dawn to take part in the noontime rally and march. Many came

to condemn anti-abortion violence. Most pro-life people were in

shock over recent attacks, said the Rev. Andrew Jackson, the

church's associate pastor.
