The Hampton Roads Admirals will have to wait until this afternoon to find out if the league will adopt a marketing program that will wrest control of the sale of novelties from the team.
A proposal to have the league market all novelty items, such as jerseys and hats, through a national firm was held over until today at the ECHL's winter meetings.
The Admirals say it would cost them money as well as control. ECHL officials insist they won't sign an unfair deal with a marketing firm.
``There's more opposition to the proposal than I thought,'' Admirals president Blake Cullen said.
The league's governors spent most of their daylong meeting Monday discussing insurance problems and took no votes.
Also on the agenda are proposals that would increase the schedule from 68 to 70 games, raise the salary cap from the current $6,000 and expand the roster from 17 to 20 players. by CNB
