NORA T. TURNER

Nora Ryland Turpin Turner died at the age of 88, on Jan. 23, 1995. She was resident of the Williamsburg Landing.

Mrs. Turner was the widow of T. Preston Turner, former assistant executive secretary of the Virginia Education Association. She was born in Aylett in King William County and spent her early years at Newtown in King and Queen County.

She graduated from Westhampton College and made her home in Richmond for over 50 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She actively supported her alma mater.

She worked with the First District Virginia Federation of Women's Clubs and was a sponsor of the Commonwealth Woman's Club. She was president of Planned Parenthood and was Richmond's Christmas Mother in 1968.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Turner Willett of Virginia Beach; four grandsons, Rodney Turner Willett of Arlington, Scott Ryland Willett of Virginia Beach, John Todd Willett of Newport News and Henry Irving Willett III of Virginia Beach; and three great-grandchildren, Preston Glynn Willett of Newport News, David Turner Willett of Arlington and Rebecca Madison Willett of Virginia Beach.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Upper King and Queen Baptist Church Cemetery in Newtown, Va. Bucktrout Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Hampton Roads Chapter (NU)20, The Koger Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
