Johnny Leroy Evans, 63, of the 7500 block of Van Hoy Drive, a retired postal supervisor, died Jan. 20, 1995, in Richmond.
Mr. Evans was born in Scotland Neck, N.C., and retired in 1992 from the U.S. government after 28 years. He was formerly a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Sewell Evans; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Sewell of Long island, N.Y.; two aunts, Irene Briscoe of Scotland Neck, N.C., Dicey Farmer of Portsmouth; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Discipleship Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. D. Stefan. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. The family is receiving at 812 Cavalier Blvd., Apt. C-7. The procession will leave this address for the church. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
