HARRY E. STEELE JR.

Harry E. Steele Jr., 84, a long time resident of Virginia Beach, died Jan. 19, 1995 at Condell Hospital, Libertyville, Ill.

Born Jan. 17, 1911 in Syracuse, N.Y., he was a retired Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy. Mr. Steele was a member of the U.S. Fleet Reserve Association and was active in local Democrat politics in Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Dorothy N. Steele.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Harry E. (Marie) Steele III of Gulfport, Miss., Michael R. (Gerianne) of Forest Grove, Ore., Thomas P. (Ellen) of Long Grove, Ill.; one daughter, Barbara S. Sacra of Virginia Beach; one brother, Bob Steele of Croswell, Mich.; three sisters, Grace Schwanbeck and Mary Dobbs, both of New Baltimore, Mich., Jane (Harry) Conaway of Farmington, W.V.; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 1995 at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery, 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach. Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 19, 1995 from 5 p.m. until time of the Prayer Service at 8 p.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., Arlington Heights, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W. Jackson, Chicago, Ill. 60607.
