A man whose drug conviction was overturned last year when the state Supreme Court ruled prosecutors withheld evidence pleaded guilty to the same charge Tuesday in Circuit Court.
Norman Bowman Jr. was found guilty of cocaine distribution and sentenced to seven years in prison, suspended, and fined $100.
Bowman was originally convicted on Sept. 18, 1991, of cocaine distribution and sentenced to seven years in prison. He had already served time in prison and had been released on parole when the Supreme Court overturned his earlier conviction.
In June, the Supreme Court ordered a new trial after ruling that prosecutors withheld favorable evidence. The high court also ruled that Judge Alfred Whitehurst, who heard that case, erred by refusing to inspect the prosecutors' files in his chambers.
