DEHYDRATE APPLES IN YOUR MICROWAVE

USE YOUR microwave to dry apples, says Rita Calvert of the Baltimore Sun.

Core and slice apples into 1/4-inch rings with peel. Place on paper towels. Microwave at 50 percent power for 12 to 15 minutes. Let stand overnight on a wire rack.

Now that's service

It was only a matter of time.

Coors Brewing Co. plans to build the first brewery in a ballpark, reports the Los Angeles Times.

With the call of ``play ball'' in the spring, Coors expects to brew and sell specialty beers in the SandLot Brewery at Coors Field, the Golden, Colo., home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team.

Now, if we can just get the players on the field . . .

Carton comfort

Virginian-Pilot columnist Larry Maddry says he was greatly comforted by sorbet after oral surgery.

``I didn't eat it. I just held the carton up to my face,'' he said. ``It stayed colder longer than a regular ice pack and fit my cheek better. '' by CNB
