It appears that soon Charles Vincent's at-large seat on the Virginia Beach School Board may be vacated. Who will the several Democrat-appointed Circuit Court judges in Virginia Beach select to replace Charles Vincent?
One would logically expect that they would reaffirm the candidate to whom the voters gave the next highest vote count in the Charles Vincent race. After all, the citizens of Virginia Beach made it overwhelming by referendum that they wanted their School Board members to be elected, not appointed. The voters were unmistakably clear: They no longer wanted School Board members who could be tainted by the political corruption and cronyism of the appointment process.
Will the Circuit Court judges echo the voices of the voters and endorse the second-highest vote getter? Or will the judges reject the voters' second choice and return to the discarded process of making appointments that may be politically expedient but unsound? Which judges' decision will be in the best interest of our children?
