Regarding the collision Jan. 22 at Brambleton and Duke in downtown Norfolk of the BMW and the van being chased by the police, I am appalled: Two lives were unnecessarily wasted.
There is no reason for the police to chase a vehicle at 100 mph in a city. Other police cars in the area could have been notified and told where to go, or the police could have used unmarked cars so that the criminal wouldn't have known he was being chased and therefore wouldn't have reached such high speeds.
Is catching a fugitive worth the loss of lives and the suffering and pain that go along with it?
