MAN CHARGED IN WIFE'S SLAYING

A Virginia Beach man was arrested Wednesday and charged with the 1993 slaying of his wife, police reported.

Howard T. Munford Jr., 35, of the 1300 block of Victorian Crescent, was arrested at his home by state police and members of the Tidewater Fugitive Apprehension Task Force. He was charged with first degree murder in the slaying of his wife, Ellen H. Munford, in Stanly County, N.C., on July 27, 1993, police said.

Munford is being held in Virginia Beach jail without bond, police said.
