Authorities investigating the strangulation death of a woman whose body was found near Interstate 81 say they may be dealing with a serial killer.
Washington County investigators said Wednesday they are becoming increasingly convinced that the Bloomington, Ind., woman may have been killed by a trucker believed responsible for strangulation and suffocation slayings along the interstate system in a number of Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states.
Sheriff Joe Mitchell admits that ``at this time it does appear there is some of the same modus operandi in some of these other cases.''
Mitchell referred to similar slayings in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New York.
