HIGH-FLYING LESSON

Tim Sanjule of the Wildlife Center of Virginia captures the

attention of Alanton Elementary School students with his lively

presentation on the environment and conservation. He arrived with

several kinds of birds, including this short-eared owl that has an

injured wing. Other birds displayed included a gyr falcon and a

black vulture. The center, established in 1982, is supported by

individual corporate donations and provides free care to thousands

of injured and orphaned wild animals each year.
