GEORGE E. CROSS SR.

George Evans Cross Sr., 83, of the 900 block of Lake Kennedy Drive, died Jan. 23, 1995, at Obici Hospital.

Formerly of Whaleyville, he was the son of William O. Cross and Lucy A. Cross. He had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mr. Cross was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mineral Spring Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Effie Cross; two daughters, Joyce Ford and Patricia Wilson, both of Suffolk; three sons, George E. Cross Jr. of Suffolk, Ronnie Cross of Charlotte, N.C., and Christopher Cross of Fayetteville, N.C.; a devoted friend, Willie M. Davis; three daughters-in-law; a son-in-law; several sisters and brothers-in-law; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several other nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mineral Spring Baptist Church, Whaleyville, by the Rev. George A. Speight. Burial will be in the Cross cemetery. Viewing will begin at 2 p.m. today in Crocker Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
