DOUGLAS N. WALTON

Dr. Douglas N. Walton, 52, died Jan. 25, 1995, in Biloxi.

He had been a resident of the coast for 22 years. He received his nursing degree from the Community College in Miami and his doctorate from the University of Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years with numerous assignments. Thirteen of those years were at Keesler Air Force Base. He was a clinic commander in Korea for 18 months. He received the Meritorious Service Medal in 1983 prior to retiring from Keesler Air Force Base in 1985. After retirement, he worked at the Biloxi V.A. Hospital. He was a member and past president of the Mississippi Academy of Physician Assistants, was a member of the American Physician Assistants Association and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

He was predeceased by his parents, Riley and Una Walton, and a sister, Peggy Walton and is survived by his wife, Evelia Quiles Walton of Ocean Springs; a daughter, Marili Sierra of Lake Charles, La.; two sons, John Walton and Steven Walton, both of Biloxi; two sisters, Ann Bishop of Virginia Beach and Susie Younge of Oakton, Wash.; four brothers, Talmadge Walton of North Carolina, Paul Walton and Jeffrey Walton, both of Virginia Beach, and Michael Walton of California; two grandsons, Tyler Walton of Lake Charles, La. and Michael Luke Gollott of Biloxi.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs, with a procession leaving the funeral home at 9:50 a.m. going to the church. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Association, Jackson County Unit, P.O. Box 1922, Pascagoula, Miss. 39567.
