Susie Lucille Slaughter, 78, of the 200 block of S. Kerr Ave., died Jan. 25, 1995.
Mrs. Slaughter was born Feb. 5, 1916 in Wake County to the late William A. and Susie Goss Davis. Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roy Slaughter Jr. She was a charter member of Tidewater Orchid Society in Norfolk.
Survivors include one son, Robert Roy Slaughter of Wilmington, N.C.; two daughters, Barbara L. Angelo of Wilmington, N.C., and Judith Fay Jones of Chesapeake, Va.; one sister, Rebecca Ferguson of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park, Norfolk, by the Rev. Joseph T. Carson III. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sierra Club, P.O. Box 5093, Wilmington, N.C. 28403. Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, Wilmington, is handling the arrangements.
