A 5-week-old girl who suffered a broken arm and collarbone has been released from the hospital, and police have charged her mother with felony child abuse.
The infant was released from a local hospital Wednesday and has been placed in a foster home.
Police said the incident occurred Sunday about 11:15 a.m. when the mother, identified as Barbara Lynn Saucier, 18, allegedly grabbed the crying child by both arms, flipped her over and let go. The infant struck a sofa as she fell to the floor.
Police were alerted Sunday night by hospital personnel after the child was taken in for treatment.
Saucier, of the 500 block of Maxey Drive, is being held in the city jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
