VISION 2005 EDIT OUT GAMBLING

Unfortunately, specific references to riverboat gambling have crept into the written version of Vision 2005, a plan now under consideration by city officials.

Some people have misconstrued the references as specific endorsement of the gaming facilities. Some even have said that support for the plan could be considered support for riverboat gambling.

To eliminate any misunderstanding that could cause some people to oppose the plan, City Council would be wise to eliminate all references to riverboat gambling or gaming facilities in the written plan.

Vision 2005 is very important for the city. The plan does not need to be caught up in the controversy that is sure to erupt over riverboat gambling.
