Jesse Oakley Byrum, 91, a retired bus driver, died Jan. 28, 1995, in his son's home (Ralph).
Mr. Byrum was born in North Carolina. He had retired from the Virginia Transit Company (TRT) after 39 years. He was the widower of Lois B. and Addie B. Byrum. He was predeceased by his parents, Annie Nixon Byrum and Frank Valentine Byrum.
Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Hatter of Roseland, Va.; three sons, Marvin O. Byrum and William Ralph Byrum, both of Norfolk and Elwood W. Byrum of Roseland; two sisters, Pattie Peele of Richmond and Helen Mansfield of Hertford, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Jesse Ray Mansfield. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
