PRO-LIFE, PRO-DEMONSTRATION

In response to Connie Hannah's letter ``Are abortion foes practicing adoption?'' (Jan. 20), the short answer is ``yes.''

Ms. Hannah seems to believe she and other ``pro-choice'' advocates have no other responsibility to the poor, uneducated and drug addicted than to counsel them to abort their babies and save the welfare system a ton of money. I shudder to think how someone can get to the point at which a human life is judged in terms of its economic impact alone.

I do not know a single ``pro-lifer'' who does not provide for these problem-pregnancy mothers in whatever way possible, from adopting their babies to giving financially to centers that assist them. Can Ms. Hannah and her crowd say the same, or are they merely content to say, ``Get an abortion and get out of my face''?

Finally, I question Ms. Hannah's statement that the FACE legislation and/or Supreme Court have ruled that we are not allowed to ``demonstrate with trashy signs and harass innocent women.'' (``Harassment'' is in the eye of the beholder.) We are well-aware of the laws that restrict our demonstrations, but the First Amendment still protects that right to demonstrate.
