WOMAN ABDUCTED, RELEASED

Two men, one armed with a handgun, abducted a woman Monday from the Southampton Shopping Center on Armory Drive and drove to Suffolk in her car, where they released her, about 1 p.m., police said.

She was unharmed, Lt. C.A. Butler said.

The suspects were reportedly heading for Norfolk, and authorities in all area localities were alerted to search for the stolen car, a late-model red Ford Mustang LX with license number ZYW-3745.

The suspects were described as white, one of them tall, with shoulder-length dirty blond hair and pale skin. He was wearing jeans and a dark shirt. The other man had short dark hair and was wearing a hat.

Police recovered another vehicle the suspects reportedly abandoned in the shopping center parking lot before the car-jacking, Butler said.

Anyone with information should call Franklin police at 562-8575.
