INSTRUCTOR FOLLOWS GOSPEL OF BRUCE LEE

THE DRAGON STILL lives.

Every year, Guro Dan Inosanto, 57, comes to Virginia Beach to spread the teachings of Bruce Lee.

Inosanto was one of Lee's three instructors - one has since passed away - who Lee certified to carry on his martial art form known as Jeet Kune Do. He spent the last 10 years of his life at Lee's side, learning the art as well as Lee's philosophies on life.

When Inosanto comes to the Beach once or twice a year for two-day seminars, he does so at the FDC Academy - where owner Frank Cucci is an Inosanto-certified teacher of Jeet Kun Do.

Cucci has been an instructor under Inosanto for eight years.

``He's really an inspiration,'' Cucci said. ``He's a wealth of knowledge and the guy still moves like a cat.

``I try to go out to (California) be with him constantly.''

Cucci said he had 70 students out for this most recent session.

Great shape: Former Princess Anne gymnast Erin Shanley has gotten herself in better condition and the results have been a winner.

The Towson State sophomore won the all-around division in her school's first two meets - scoring a 37.825 against Rutgers and George Washington, and totaling a 38.075 against Northeastern, Ohio State and Michigan.

``The difference this year is that I came back to school and worked much harder during the preseason,'' Shanley said. ``I did a lot of conditioning and I'm stronger now. I'm determined to do better and I have more confidence.''

And it's showing in her scores.
