I knew Terrie Guille Timms. I didn't know her well, but that didn't really matter. Terrie was the kind of person you could talk to for five minutes and feel as though you had known her your entire life.
I knew that Terrie had suffered much adversity and tragedy both personally and professionally the past couple of years, yet she always had a smile on her face. She was the one who always offered others a helping hand, a gesture of friendship, a sympathetic ear.
I knew Terrie was a great mom. Her kids were her life, especially after they lost their dad, her husband, just over a year ago. She picked up the pieces as fast as she could and carried on with tremendous inner strength to help her children through their grief.
And now who will be there to pick up the pieces?
To all the drunken drivers of the world: You do not have the right to get behind the wheel of a car and drive drunk. You do not have the right to put the rest of us at risk due to your lack of self-control.
To all the drunken drivers of the world: Read the article on this recent tragedy over and over and over again and imagine your picture in the paper as a killer and destroyer of lives before you get behind the wheel of a car drunk again.
