Mrs. Frances Powell Britt, age 83, a resident of Boykins, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1995, at Courtland Health Care Center, Courtland. A lifelong resident of Boykins, she was widow of James T. Britt. She attended Farmville State Teachers College and was a very active member of Boykins Baptist Church. She retired in 1981 from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service with the Boykins Post Office.
She is survived by a brother, Jackson M. Powell and a niece, Sylvia P. Edwards, both of Boykins. She was sister of the late W. Hugh Powell, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs., Feb. 2, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. in Boykins Baptist Church by Rev. Benjamin E. Thomas. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at the residence of Sylvia P. Edwards, 33256 Pinecrest Dr. in Boykins following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Baptist Church. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel is handling the arrangements.
